About

I am a therapist.

I have done it for a long time, now I’m talking it worldwide. I’m sorry I don’t know why I said that… it sounded cool in my head. I am working on a book; it is called Get Your S#*t Together. It is an attempt to help people get their s#*t together. The intent of my book and this blog is to share the things that I have learned sitting in living rooms and kitchens listening to normal folks share their stories.

There are a handful of patterns that I see over and over in people’s lives that keep them from moving forward. I want to help people realize those patterns in their lives.

People are stubborn… through humor, story-telling and often embarrassing personal revelation, I will attempt to go around to the back door, where people’s defenses are a little weaker. If I can, at the very least, plant a seed or give you an a-ha moment while I make you laugh, it will be worth it.

I am a Christian so God will pop up in my writing and in the writing of my great friend and contributor, the Apostle Dennis. If you’re a non-believer, don’t let the God stuff throw you. I will try to keep God stuff and therapy stuff separated by page, except for where they intersect. God and or your conversion are not the focus of this blog (although they are the focus of my life).

I don’t thump Bibles (I’m not even sure where mine is). I have one on my phone, but it’s not very dramatic to thump my phone.

I don’t point fingers (unless we’re in a rap-off challenge and it’s your turn to spit). I think there are enough finger pointers in the world as it is. That being said, if you want to talk about God, bring it. You can tell me how wrong I am. You can ask me why I believe what I believe, it’s all good.

I am a human. I won’t judge you, if you don’t call me a hypocrite. I’ll save you the time… I am a hypocrite of the tallest order.

We can disagree as long as we draw up sides and hug it out at the end.

  1. I’m enjoying your blog – you have a great way of putting your topic across. It always makes me feel as if I’m sitting in the therapist’s chair (in a nice way) when I read your posts. I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award. It’s a ‘pay it forward’ kind of award, showcasing blogs to other bloggers. You say a little about yourself and nominate around 5-7 other blogs you like for the award. You can see how it works on my entry here http://awritersnotepad.wordpress.com/2013/09/20/one-lovely-blog-award/ . I don’t know if you like doing this kind of thing, but if you want to join in, just copy the logo to your own post.

    1. Thanks Jools, I appreciate it. It is my intention to help people feel they’re in the therapists chair in a nice way, hah! I must have nailed it. I will check out the One lovely blog award later today.
